Do you think painting people is too challenging? Have you ever attempted this daunting feat and became frustrated because the model didn’t think it looked like them? In this course, we will uncover secrets that will make painting people less mysterious. Using the time honoured approach of indirect painting, we will begin with a grisaille and then apply glazes into which we will work to model the forms. Planes of the head, mixing accurate flesh tones, placing features and finishing techniques will all be discussed and practiced so the model will not only have an accurate likeness, but they will also look human. We will paint two portraits from live sitters so artists will have a chance to improve after the first attempt.
